SUBANSIRI, ARUNACHAL PRADESH - The Gold River

The biggest tributary of the Brahmaputra, the Subansiri runs through Tibet before it enters India at Asaphila in Arunachal Pradesh. It is virtually inaccessible by road and has hardly any inhabitation in the area.

A swift river that offers excellent kayaking opportunities and is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. The vertical rock surface around the river lends it a more rugged look and challenges the adventurer in you. Kayak on the challenging rapids while you enjoy the serenity of the remote location when you set up camp for the day.

There is more, as one could even try to pan for gold as one stops for the day and takes back more than just memories! The beauty of Subansiri may be lost before long when the hydro-power dam in this area is completed around 2012.
